Rachel Salem is a speech-language pathologist in private telepractice serving the state of Indiana. She received her bachelor’s of science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders and master’s of science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Old Dominion University. Rachel has had diverse experiences working with individuals across the lifespan within different settings, including early intervention, outpatient pediatrics, skilled nursing, adult outpatient rehabilitation, and an autism spectrum disorder center. She has also had experience providing voice therapy to individuals looking to explore their true voices.
Based on her work, Rachel firmly believes quality therapy services start with basics that are overlooked in traditional settings: building human connections.
Rachel wants her patients to feel seen, heard, and respected on their communication journey, just as they are. Most importantly, she wants to provide a safe place for individuals to play and discover the power of their words.
In direct therapy, Rachel integrates a coaching model to help caregivers feel well-equipped for facilitating their own loved one’s treatment approaches at home. She believes quality therapy shouldn’t require individuals buy expensive toys/equipment/software, but rather teach new ways to utilize items already in your own home. Providing services that are evidenced-based, culturally competent, and functional for patient’s day-to-day lives are her highest priority.
